Small Produce Bag

$44.00

Small: feeds 1-2 people for a week

This produce bag is made up of the most local produce we can source. When in season we will source items from Niagara farmers, however, please note: we are a year-round operation. Therefore, we are forced to put certain items in the bag that are not local due to our growing seasons.

Week of November 24th

Russet potatoes

Onions

Green onions

Cabbage

Celery

Heirloom Carrots

Garlic

Squash

Lettuce

Tomatoes

Cucumber

Spinach

Apples

Bananas

Contents will vary weekly! Subscribe to the email newsletter at the bottom of our website for a list of what fruits and vegetables are in the bag week to week.

*Please note, we add in produce that is not local but this will be very limited. For example, if we come across an excess of avocados, we'd like to be able to provide them to you and will add them. Or, we add bananas, because a lot of our subscribers are parents, and the kids enjoy them. And in some cases, we buy them so they can be given out easily to the people who are still without a home in Niagara.

Our point? We want local more than anyone, and this subscription is us navigating the current food system in real time, to increase our purchasing power, and grow and buy more local food.

When we purchase from a local food system, the profit stays within our community. We believe this is a great way to unite the various groups within Niagara to both fundraise but also feed. And grow.

And then grow even more.

Always Happy to Receive my Small Scale Order

I am always happy to receive my biweekly Small Scale order. Here's why: 1. Fresh fruits and vegetables await. 2. I'm supporting local farmers and a locally run organization. 3. Less packaging - I get a brown paper bag and minimal packaging. This makes me feel much better about how little I'm tossing away. 4. The group at Small Scale Farms work hard. I want to reward them for their efforts and passion for local by buying from them. 5. Having the bag delivered supports local employment and it makes it less of a bother. It's just easier this way. Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully you continue to get the support that you deserve. Thank you for offering a local and small scale alternative. It's welcome and needed.

Produce bag

We are very pleased with the weekly produce delivery. My family & I create new recipes & conversations around the dinner table. We have learned so much and our curiosity leads to more curiosities. I highly recommend Red Maple School of Farming & ALL the workshops. A healthy mind, body & sharing/caring community starts with the right fuel in your tank.

Sm produce bag like & dislike

Did not like the Celeriac I find it is so subtle in flavour I don’t often use it. The Bok Choy was a little tough. Everything else was great, the ginger was delicious and the garlic fresh and pungent. GREAT Assortment

Good but not great

Generally speaking I am happy with my weekly produce bags but the last few bags have not been great. I have had several items that were already going off when I received them. Pears, tomatoes, lettuce in my last bag. I have a Lomi counter top composter which at least turns the soft produce into garden mulch but when it's spoiled right out of the bag I can't do much else to salvage it.
