What's in the Box?
Vegetables we are growing this year include: carrots, leeks, onions, beets, broccoli, corn, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, squash, radish, potatoes, eggplant, zucchini, swiss chard, kale, mixed greens, spinach, beans and more.
Depends where we are at in the season as to what is available/will be in your box. It is ever changing, as we purchase from both local growers and local distributors.
Current vegetables available from local growers/suppliers: Tomatoes, zucchini, green onions, white potatoes, russet potatoes, onions, spanish onions, red onions, apples, lettuce, kale, mushrooms, green beans, carrots, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, cabbage, broccoli, beets, parsnips, turnips, celery, garlic, tomatoes.
*Please note, we may choose to add in produce that is not local but this will be very limited. For example, if we come across an excess of avocados, we'd like to be able to provide them to you and will add them. Or, we add bananas, because a lot of our subscribers are parents, and the kids enjoy them. And in some cases, we buy them so they can be given out easily to the people who are still without a home in Niagara.
Our point? We want local more than anyone, and this subscription is us navigating the current food system in real time, to increase our purchasing power, and grow and buy more local food.
When we purchase from a local food system, the profit stays within our community. We believe this is a great way to unite the various groups within Niagara to both fundraise but also feed. And grow.
And then grow even more.
Please note that this product is available for either curbside pickup or delivery at checkout.
If you choose curbside pickup, orders can be picked up at our Farm Hub located at 13145 Lundy's Lane, Thorold between 11:00-2:00pm Thursday to Saturday. Please pull into our parking lot and remain in your vehicle. Beep for Service and one of our Crew Members will come out for your order number and load your trunk for you. Please ensure you are picking up within the same week your order was placed.
If you choose delivery all orders must be submitted by midnight each Saturday in order to be delivered the following week. Please see our delivery schedule here.
*$5 from every bag sold will go directly toward this Community Group.
** We also supply this community group every week with 15 bags of produce. Groups like these need our help. For every subscription you purchase from Small Scale Farms directly (not these $5 fundraisers), WE then give away a bag of produce to community groups like this one, (15 max).
This is HOW to make a difference in Niagara.
We all spend money. We're just trying to show you why we think you should spend it with us. Investing in the local food economy helps us all.
